Exact Customs Declaration Formula for New Zealand

Declaring the correct value on your commercial parcel invoice ensures smooth clearance through border customs without paying unexpected import taxes or inspection delays.

Recommended Declaration Formula:

$11 – $13 per kg (declare $45 – $70 total)

Local Tax & Duty Notes: Generous duty-free limits allow fast clearance at Auckland International Mail Centre.

Warehouse Packing & Weight Optimization Tips

Drop Shoe Boxes: Removing shoe boxes saves up to 350g to 500g per pair and drastically reduces volumetric package dimensions, cutting shipping costs by 25% – 35%.
Vacuum Sealing: Use vacuum packaging for hoodies, winter puffers, and sweatpants. Compressible apparel ships significantly cheaper when volumetric air is removed.
Rehearsal Packaging: Prior to paying shipping, order rehearsal packaging in your agent dashboard so warehouse staff pack the items together and weigh the exact finalized parcel.
Insurance Coverage: Always select parcel shipping insurance (typically costs $3 – $8) on LitBuy, ACBuy, or KakoBuy to protect against lost parcels or transit damage.
